Since today (I’m posting this on 4th May 2025) is my birthday I figured I would do a birthday reading for myself. Instead of just choosing a random birthday spread I found from Instagram or elsewhere on social media; I decided to use my own prompts and draw 3 cards per prompt. I am using the Bonefire Tarot by Gabi Angus-West. Lets start with the first prompt:
”How can I best achieve my goals starting from my birthday moving forward?”
I am not going to reveal what I wrote for myself since this was a personal reading for myself but I will give an example of how I would answer each of these prompts:
”Stop letting self-sabotaging habits be what stops you from asking for receiving help with money and resources. Then once you have what you need, face the challenge head on. Be honest with yourself about where you want to go, what you want to do and how you’re going to go about it.”
The second prompt:
”What obstacles are currently standing in my way?”
"You’re not satisfied with where things are headed so you’re pushing yourself too hard instead of knowing where your limits are and resting here and there. You also just averted a potentially disastrous situation. Learn from your mistakes to avoid repeating them going forward."
Third prompt:
Actions to avoid going forward (Draw 3 cards)
"Avoid not asking for help when you are in a dire situation. Be honest about your needs and communicate them so they can be addressed. Don't be taken advantage of by lazy people who want to take advantage of you. Whilst at the same time not relying too heavily on others to get things done for you. Stop being ignorant about situation you don't know anything about. Do your research, find out what your need to do and make sure you have all the information necessary to get this done. Otherwise, you will make a fool out of yourself."
Fourth prompt:
What lessons can I learn from my previous failures from my last birthday? (Draw 3 cards)
"Being burned out and frustrated is only going to make matters worse. Know your limits of what you can and cannot do. Delegate tasks where necessary and acknowledge where your own short-comings are. Don't let others manipulate you into doing what they want. Set clear and healthy boundaries with others so they know where they stand and what is not going to be acceptable if they want to continue collaborating with you going forward. Not willing to take criticism is going to hold you back. Criticism helps realise where you need to improve. It is not a personal attack on your character and if you see it as such then you need to learn to distinguish the difference. Make sure you have all the information you need before taking action naïvely or it will blow up in your face."
Fifth prompt:
What I can expect going into the rest of this year from my birthday onwards? (Draw 3 cards)
"If you want your goals to happen then you need to move forward by taking the first step today. You will get a second chance after experiencing a failure that could have been a lot worse than it actually was. You won't be able to help others with money and resources as you will have to use what you already have. Don't misuse your time, money or resources or you will regret it. Assistance will not be available to you at this time so don't be reckless."
Final prompt: Birthday wish: Do this to make your birthday wish come true. (Draw 3 cards)
"Be open to planning changing at any given moment. You may have to put something aside for the time being before you can move on to the next task. Don't let yourself get taken advantage of by other people. Be specific about what you want or don't be disappointed if what you wanted turned out to not be as you expected it to be. Sometimes there's a catch to getting what we want. Are you willing to accept it?"
