Deck Review: Wild Wisdom of the Faery Oracle

Hi everyone! Let's a have look a one of my favourite oracle decks in my collection: Wild Wisdom of the Faery Oracle (2nd Edition) by Lucy Cavendish and Selina Fenech Copyright 2015 Blue Angel Publishing All Rights Reserved.
This first image is of the box. It is typically what you can expect from Blue Angel. It is nice and sturdy and will keep your cards and guidebook nice and secure. The second image to the right shows you a thumbnail of the card, its title, keywords that are also on the card itself, a description of the card, its divinatory meaning and its reversed meaning.

The cardstock: As you can see in the image above the cardstock is nice and sturdy. However, I did buy this deck when it first came out so the card texture had a glossy finish. This may have changed to a matte finish in later printings as this has become the favoured card finish for Blue Angel for a while. If you bought this deck recently, let me know if this has changed from a glossy to a matte finish.

The last two images depict what the cards look like. As you can see there's the image of the card itself, the card's number at the top of the card, the title and a few keywords for each card.

The guidebook:  The guidebook contain extensive information on how to work with faeries, faery energy, faery beliefs, when to work with the faeries, faery symbols, signs the faeries are with you, questions to ask the faery, reversals, 3 unique spreads exclusive to this deck and finally, the card interpretations. An example of what you can find in the guidebook can be seen in the second image.

Unlike her successor deck: The Faery Forest Oracle, this deck actually has reversed meanings provided with each card.

Can you read this deck right out the box without having to rely on the guidebook? Yes, absolutely! The keywords will give you enough for your intuition go off of to where you don't necessarily need the guidebook. Especially, if you don't read reversals. However, with that being said, I would highly recommend working with the guidebook to really get to know the deck as a whole and to get the reversed meanings down.

Beginner friendly? Yes, I would say this deck is absolutely approachable to someone new to oracle cards and the guidebook will only help enhance their oracle card reading abilities.

Diversity: Unfortunately, this deck is very heteronormative and only includes white faeries. There are no LGBT+ characters nor are there characters of other races represented within the characters themselves. If this is crucial factor for you in determining whether or not to purchase this deck then keep that in mind.

How balanced is this deck? Out of the 47 cards in this deck, here is how it can be broken down to:
Positive: 24 (Upright)- 1 (Reversed)
Neutral: 19 (Upright)-3 (Reversed)
Negative: 4 (Upright)-43 (Reversed)

This deck tends to lean toward the positive when only reading this deck upright. However, it becomes more balanced when you incorporate reversals into readings. Whilst there are only 21 neutral cards in total. I do feel this deck is quite balanced enough to where you don't have to use another deck (ex: Tarot, Lenormand, Vera Sibilla, Kipper, etc) alongside it. Although, it will enhance the reading if you do choose to use it with another deck or divination tool. (Ex: Runes).

Specific theme: Faeries. This deck's aim is to answer questions related to healing and change.

Overall, this deck is great for doing shadow work over aspects of your life that need healing and for helping make positive changes in your life by guiding your in the direction you need to be in. This is especially great if you work with faeries in your witchcraft or spiritual path.

On to you? What do you think of this deck? Do you own it and use it yourself? Would you consider getting it (if you don't already have it)? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments below!
